\n\tJames Devaney<\/span>Getty Images<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n Hailey and Justin Bieber might be the epitome of marital bliss right now, but the model has revealed that she actually had some major reservations about dating the singer this time around. <\/p>\n The couple first paired up when the runway star was 19 years-old, with the face of Bare Minerals now viewing it as a time when they appeared to be going in \u2018very different directions\u2019.<\/p>\n Recalling the break-up now that she is married to the \u2018Yummy\u2019 crooner, the California-based star explains to ELLE US<\/em> that their split was a \u2018good thing\u2019 and \u2018very healthy\u2019. <\/p>\n However, when it came to reconciling with the 26-year-old in 2018, she admitted that she had doubts as to whether they would work as a couple.<\/p>\n \t\t\t<\/p>\n \n\tJean Baptiste Lacroix<\/span>Getty Images<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u2018We ended up being at this church conference together in Miami, and it was the first time we\u2019d seen each other in a while,\u2019 she recalled.<\/p>\n \u2018I remember we were hanging out and I was like, \u201cListen, I\u2019m really, really happy for us to be friends again. I want us to always be cool and be friends,\u201d’ pushing for a platonic continuance of their relationship, rather than a romantic one.<\/p>\n However, the model notes that her now-husband had other ideas. <\/p>\n \u2018He was like, \u201cYeah, here\u2019s the thing: We\u2019re not going to be friends.\u201d And I was like, \u201cOh. It was familiar territory, but when a lot of time goes by, it\u2019s like getting to know a new person.\u2019<\/p>\n The pair married in a New York City courthouse in September 2018 before wedding again in a ceremony in south Carolina exactly a year later in front of friends and family.<\/p>\n Opening up about her decision to wear a dress designed by the artistic director of Louis Vuitton menswear Virgil Abloh on her big day, the model revealed that she knew from the beginning of the wedding planning process that she didn\u2019t want a wedding dress designer to create her main dress.<\/p>\n \u2018Virgil had never designed a wedding dress before, and it was perfect. It was like having this block of marble and then chipping away at it,\u2019 she added.<\/p>\n Bieber\u2019s comments come days after her husband said that he didn\u2019t know if he could commit and \u2018be faithful\u2019 to his wife.<\/p>\n During an interview on The Ellen Show<\/em> last week, the Canadian opened up to the show host about struggling with the idea of commitment.<\/p>\n ‘I was extremely nervous,\u2019 he told DeGeneres of how he felt before popping the question to the model in 2018.<\/p>\n \u2018I felt like in the past, we had talked about you know, me asking the question, and I felt like she would say \u201cyes\u201d.\u2019<\/p>\n The \u2018Baby\u2019 singer continued, saying that he wasn\u2019t nervous about his partner\u2019s answer to his proposal, rather about how he was going to make the promise to be faithful to her.<\/p>\n \t\t\t<\/p>\n \n\tSean Zanni<\/span>Getty Images<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u2018Am I able to make this commitment as a man and be able to honour you know, what I say, you know because that’s a serious commitment, when you say you’re gonna love someone for better or for worse and like, be faithful,\u2019 he recalled.<\/p>\n \u2018That’s huge. Am I able to do that? And so I think that was really what I was battling with. And I finally was like, “You know what? I’m gonna make the decision and follow through with it. Be a husband, and you know, this is what I’ve always wanted.
