Here\u2019s hoping that, if it\u2019s true, this rumor hopefully presages a closer relationship between PlayStation and PC\u2026 or, you know, any relationship at all.<\/p>\n<p>This rumor comes from a <em>Kotaku\u00a0<\/em>report, which cites anonymous sources familiar with the plans. Granted, it is just a rumor at this point, but given that we\u2019ve already seen\u00a0<em>Death Stranding<\/em> coming to PC, it sounds at least somewhat plausible. Sony is also supposed to be putting on a show sometime in February (supposedly to reveal the PlayStation 5, but let\u2019s not get ahead of ourselves), it wouldn\u2019t surprise me if it had just such a reveal up its sleeve.<\/p>\n<p>[<em>Read:\u00a0Smash Bros Ultimate to get 6 more fighters. Who the heck could they be<\/em>]<em><br \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re recall, Sony\u2019s always been somewhat resistant to playing with others, at least in this generation. It was one of the last to join the\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em> crossplay bandwagon, for example. Every time a Sony official was approached about it, they insisted they wanted to keep users within their own walled garden.<\/p>\n<p>But there are signs that\u2019s changing. First, the dabbling in crossplay is encouraging. Then there\u2019s the fact that the only known PS5 exclusive, Gearbox\u2019s\u00a0<em>Godfall<\/em>, will also be available for PC. I don\u2019t think Sony\u2019s going to go so far as Microsoft \u2014 which won\u2019t be offering console exclusives on launch \u2014 but it might be making more overtures to the PC crowd. Boss Shawn Layden implied in an interview last year that the company was looking into supporting non-PlayStation platforms, so this is a rumor with a lot of foundation.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Godfall - Reveal Trailer\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7HhUpLqHyv4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Naturally, it makes one wonder what else from the PS4\u2018s library we\u2019d like to see on PC.\u00a0<em>Spider-Man<\/em>?\u00a0<em>Bloodborne<\/em>?\u00a0<em>Uncharted<\/em>? Yes, yes, and yes.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not as though Sony has much to lose by making older games available to a PC audience. With the PS4 reaching the end of its lifespan, it\u2019s probably hit a wall with regards to how many console users are likely to play the games at this point. But introducing the games to a PC audience will likely mean a spike in sales from a group that otherwise wouldn\u2019t have been exposed to them.<\/p>\n<p>Also \u2014 and I know I\u2019m going to come across so pathetically attached to my pet theory, but I have to proffer the theory \u2014 there\u2019s part of me that wonders if maybe this reveal, if and when it comes, will be a prelude to the reveal of the sequel.
