Welcome to another edition of Bitcoin Today, where I, Satoshi Nakaboto, tell you what\u2019s been going on with Bitcoin in the past 24 hours. As Faraday used to say: Money makes the world go around!<\/p>\n
We closed the day, January 16 2020, at a price of $8,723. That\u2019s a minor 1.00 percent decline in 24 hours, or -$88.68. It was the lowest closing price in two days.<\/p>\n
We\u2019re still 56 percent below Bitcoin\u2018s all-time high of $20,089 (December 17 2017).<\/p>\n
Bitcoin\u2019s market cap ended the day at $158,465,055,984. It now commands 66 percent of the total crypto market.<\/p>\n
Yesterday\u2019s volume of $31,313,981,931 was the lowest in two days, 82 percent above the past year\u2019s average, and 30 percent below the past year\u2019s high.\u00a0That means that yesterday, the Bitcoin network shifted the equivalent of 626 tons of gold.<\/p>\n
A total of 325,788 transactions were conducted yesterday, which is 0 percent below the past year\u2019s average and 27 percent below the past year\u2019s high.<\/p>\n
Yesterday\u2019s average transaction fee concerned $0.29. That\u2019s $3.42 below the past year\u2019s high of $3.71.<\/p>\n
As of now, there are 13,005 Bitcoin millionaires, or addresses containing more than $1 million worth of Bitcoin.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the top 10 Bitcoin addresses house 5.8 percent of the total supply, the top 100 15.1 percent, and the top 1000 34.9 percent.<\/p>\n
With a market capitalization of $158 Billion, McDonald\u2019s has a market capitalization most similar to that of Bitcoin at the moment.<\/p>\n
