As usual, no-one in Hollywood was spared from the scathing barbs of Ricky Gervais last night as he stepped up to host the Golden Globes for the very last time.<\/p>\n
In a night which saw Sam Mendes’ war film\u00a01917<\/em> win big and The Irishman<\/em> walk away empty handed, Gervais didn’t hold back in ribbing the rich and famous.<\/p>\nSome of this years targets included Leonardo DiCaprio, Prince Andrew as well as box office disaster Cats <\/em>as he delivered his opening monologue.<\/p>\nRead more: <\/strong>Tom Hanks\u2019 reacting to Gervais\u2019 Globes gags<\/strong><\/p>\nIt comes after he revealed earlier this week the one joke\u00a0he regrets making the most at the prestigious awards ceremony.<\/p>\n
Gervais kicked off the night by addressing one of the most uncomfortable aspects of the industry and those who work in it.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn this room are some of the most important TV and film executives in the world, from all different backgrounds,” he began. “But they all have one thing in common \u2014 they\u2019re all terrified of Ronan Farrow. On Harvey Weinstein, Gervais introduced Sandra Bullock sayig: “Our next presenter starred in Netflix’s Bird Box<\/em>, a movie where people survive by acting like they don’t see a thing. Sort of like working for Harvey Weinstein.”<\/p>\nResponding to groans from the audience, Gervais added: “You did it! I didn’t, you did it!”<\/p>\n
Continuing on a similar theme, notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein who\u00a0died earlier in the year was also not off-limits.<\/p>\n
Referencing his own show After Life<\/em> which is getting a second series, Gervais said it was “obvious” his character didn’t kill himself – “just like Jeffrey Epstein”.<\/p>\n\nPrince Andrew wasn’t off limits either. You’ll have to make your own way here in your own plane.”<\/p>\n
Leonardo DiCaprio, 45, has dated a string of younger women with his latest squeeze being 22-year-old actor Camila Morrone, so its no surprise he was the butt of a joke.<\/p>\n

“Leonardo DiCaprio attended the premiere and by the end, his date was too old for him. Even Prince Andrew is like, ‘come on Leo mate, you’re nearly 50, son’,” the host jested.<\/p>\n

Fellow British stars were also in the line of fire as he took aim at The Late Late Show<\/em> host James Corden, with Gervais saying: “The world got to see James Corden as a fat pussy. He was also in the movie Cats<\/em>, but no one saw that.<\/p>\n\u201cAnd the reviews \u2013 shocking! I saw one that said it was one of the worst things to happen to cats since dogs. For the final target of his monologue, Gervais critiqued Apple and those signed up to star in the shows made by the company’s original programming unit.<\/p>\n
