{"id":192407,"date":"2020-01-04T03:02:03","date_gmt":"2020-01-04T00:02:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ww-vb.mine.nu\/w108\/skowhegan-hospital-delivers-first-area-baby-of-2020\/"},"modified":"2020-01-04T03:02:03","modified_gmt":"2020-01-04T00:02:03","slug":"skowhegan-hospital-delivers-first-area-baby-of-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hameed.nwar.uk\/sa\/skowhegan-hospital-delivers-first-area-baby-of-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Skowhegan hospital delivers first area baby of 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div itemprop=\"articleBody\" id=\"js-post-content\" data-truncate=\"3\">\n<p>Shay-lynn Smith didn\u2019t expect she would deliver her first child 25 days early, but she wasn\u2019t totally surprised, as both she and the baby\u2019s father, Cory Fortin, were both born before their due dates many years ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were both pre-mees, too,\u201d Smith said Friday from Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan where she had delivered Camdyn Lynn Fortin at 2:05 a.m. Thursday. \u201cCory was only two weeks early, but he was 4 pounds, 15 ounces and I was 5 pounds, 12 ounces.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_13762558\" class=\"caption alignright\" style=\"width: 225px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-13762558\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/multifiles.pressherald.com\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/01\/First-baby-2020-225x300.jpg\"\/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-13762558\" src=\"https:\/\/multifiles.pressherald.com\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/01\/First-baby-2020-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\"\/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Camdyn Lynn Fortin arrived 25 days before her due date at 2:05 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, the first baby born in the Skowhegan-Waterville area in 2020. <span class=\"credit\"> <i>Shay-lynn Smith photo<\/i><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Camdyn was the first baby born in the new year in the Waterville-Skowhegan area, weighing in at 4.7\u00a0 pounds. She was 17 1\/4 inches long and was born with thick brown hair, according to her mother.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s absolutely perfect,\u201d a jubilant Smith said. \u201cI\u2019ve been in awe of her the past few days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Smith, 23, and Fortin, 26,\u00a0 recently bought a house in Cornville, and they expect to be able to take Camdyn home Sunday or Monday. Fortin\u2019s parents, Patricia and Dana Fortin, also live in Cornville, and Cory grew up in that town. Smith\u2019s mother, Brandie Smith, is from Madison, and her father, Michael Smith, is from Norridgewock.<\/p>\n<p>Shay-lynn Smith works as an intake officer for the transportation department at Kennebec Valley Community Action Program in Waterville. Fortin works for H.E. Callahan Construction Co., based in Auburn. They named their baby \u201cCamdyn,\u201d in part, because her initials would be the same as her father\u2019s, Shay-lynn Smith said.<\/p>\n<p>She said she went into the hospital Wednesday and her water broke at 10:05 p.m. that evening.
