You could of course use branches of pine and cranberry decorations and red ribbons as well if you feel like a more "traditional" wreath. Use whatever you have at home, or can source in the woods or in your surroundings – the options are endless and it's a really cheap, and environmentally friendly way to make decorations too!

This is what I started off with:

1 Imperfect wooden twig ring thing (which no doubt would have been thrown away had I not saved it)

1 Bell decoration thingy

Secondhand thrifted Tinsel

The great thing about this DIY is that you can use a base for the wreath that has some imperfections, as they will be covered up by the tinsel. Mine had some glue residue on it, and a few branches broken – but it doesn't really matter as you can't see it on the finished product.

Or why not, make your own if you have any dry twigs laying around the house or can source it!

You can also use tinsel that is not totally perfect, as it won't show either once its wrapped around the ring.

So this is what you do: just wrap the tinsel around the wooden ring, fasten the ends at the top, and add the bells at the bottom.

This is the final result – what do you think? Looks quite pretty no?

And it only took about 5 minutes to make as well 🙂

I hung it on my door… Using a simple suction cup.

I love how the little bells make a noise when you open and close the door!

Other quick, easy and cheap Xmas DIY's:

Wrap your normal candle stick holder with tinsel to give it a more "Christmassy" feel (candy canes optional )

Stuff a santa hat with newspaper for a standalone Christmas decoration

Make a paper star and hang it in the window (colouring optional)

Original Article

Throwing in a quick DIY for the holidays coming up, reusing old ornaments or upcycling thrifted items.
