Gary Coe<\/strong><\/a>, also known as \u201cGary from Chicago,\u201d became a viral sensation at the 2017 Academy Awards<\/strong><\/a><\/em> and now he\u2019s revealing what happened to him after the show.<\/p>\n Jimmy Kimmel<\/strong><\/a> surprised a Hollywood tour bus full of unsuspecting fans<\/a> by having them walk into the Dolby Theatre in the middle of the Oscars ceremony. <\/p>\n Jimmy<\/strong> singled out a man named Gary<\/strong> and his fiancee Vicki<\/strong>. He even had Denzel Washington<\/strong><\/a> officiate an impromptu wedding ceremony during the show.<\/p>\n After the show, the media dug up Gary<\/strong>\u2018s story<\/a> and how he had just been released from prison three days earlier after serving 20 years.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was great for my family and friends to see me on the Oscars,\u201d he told THR<\/a><\/em>. \u201cBut two days later, [the media] tried to make it something ugly.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt was horrible,\u201d Gary<\/strong> said about the attention from the media. \u201cI didn\u2019t ask to be put on the Oscars. I was minding my own business, walking down the street. I was like, \u2018Wow, that\u2019s crazy \u2014 that\u2019s America for you.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n He added, \u201cAnd how about the way it\u2019s come down? Look what happened to Harvey Weinstein<\/strong><\/a>! Come to find out that the people up in really high places are the ones we should\u2019ve been watching, and not some poor little black guy that\u2019s been locked away in prison for the last 20 years!\u201d<\/p>\n
