REUTERS\/Mario Anzuoni<\/span><\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/div>\n (Reuters) – CBS Corp (CBS.N<\/a><\/span>) and AT&T Inc (T.N<\/a><\/span>) failed to renew their contact, resulting in millions of DirecTV subscribers losing access to CBS programming. <\/p>\n CBS television stations in over a dozen U.S. cities, including New York and Los Angeles, went dark for DirecTV customers effective 0200 ET (0600 GMT), CBS said in a statement on Saturday. <\/p>\n \u201cWhile we continue to negotiate in good faith and hope that AT&T agrees to fair terms soon, this loss of CBS programming could last a long time,\u201d CBS added, as the companies blamed one another for the deal\u2019s collapse. <\/p>\n CBS, the network with hit shows like \u201cNCIS\u201d and \u201cThe Late Show with Stephen Colbert\u201d is directing customers to a website called \u201cKeepCBS.com\u201d, where they are urged to mail, call or post messages onto DirecTV\u2019s social media pages. <\/p>\n In a separate statement AT&T said that they \u201cwere willing to continue to negotiate and also offered to pay CBS an unprecedented rate increase.\u201d <\/p>\n In March, AT&T renewed its contract with Viacom Inc (VIAB.O<\/a><\/span>) avoiding a blackout of MTV, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central for users of the telecom carrier\u2019s pay TV service DirecTV. <\/p>\n CBS had informed its users on Tuesday that they should be prepared for a blackout from June 19, unless an agreement was reached with AT&T. <\/p>\n Reporting by Maria Ponnezhath in Bengaluru; Editing by Stephen Powell<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
