{"id":140723,"date":"2019-07-10T20:19:27","date_gmt":"2019-07-10T17:19:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ww-vb.mine.nu\/w108\/winkevoss-twins-consider-joining-facebooks-cryptocurrency-despite-beef-with-zuckerberg\/"},"modified":"2019-07-10T20:19:27","modified_gmt":"2019-07-10T17:19:27","slug":"winkevoss-twins-consider-joining-facebooks-cryptocurrency-despite-beef-with-zuckerberg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hameed.nwar.uk\/sa\/winkevoss-twins-consider-joining-facebooks-cryptocurrency-despite-beef-with-zuckerberg\/","title":{"rendered":"Winkevoss twins consider joining Facebook\u2019s \u2018cryptocurrency\u2019 despite beef with Zuckerberg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2019\/07\/Untitled-design-63-2-796x417.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Winklevoss brothers, co-founders of cryptocurrency exchange Gemini and renown for their well-documented legal battle with\u00a0Facebook, are seemingly willing to \u2018get into bed\u2019 with the tech giant in an attempt to spread the adoption of digital currencies.<\/p>\n<p>In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/winklevoss-twins-gemini-exchange-may-join-facebooks-libra-project\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">interview with CoinDesk<\/a>, the twins said they were considering joining the Libra Association, the governing body set up by Facebook to oversee its <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/hardfork\/2019\/06\/18\/facebook-will-launch-its-libra-digital-currency-in-2020\/\">soon to be launched \u2018cryptocurrency.\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe\u2019re definitely looking at it in earnest and we\u2019re excited about the project,\u201d Cameron said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOur feeling is, this is the first of many FANG [Facebook, Amazon, Netflix and Google] companies to have a token project. Our prediction is in the next 24 months almost every FANG company will have a coin or be working on some sort of project,\u201d Tyler added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The brothers\u2019 relationship with Mark Zuckerberg has been strained ever since they accused the Facebook CEO of swindling their idea for a social network<\/p>\n<p>However, rumours about a possible collaboration have been swirling for months. Back in May, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/0207778c-7d62-11e9-81d2-f785092ab560\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Financial Times reported<\/a> that Zuckerberg had spoken to the brothers about his plans to develop a digital currency.<\/p>\n<p>Since announcing it\u2019s \u2018cryptocurrency\u2018 in June, Facebook has ruffled feathers with some politicians and bankers calling its project into question.<\/p>\n<p>Just yesterday, <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/hardfork\/2019\/07\/08\/facebook-libra-india\/\">authorities in India<\/a> said they were\u00a0no more keen on the social media giant\u2019s project than any cryptocurrency that came before it.<\/p>\n<p>While Facebook will have to answer to politicians and regulators across the globe, I for one can\u2019t wait to see how a potential collaboration between the Winklevoss brothers and Zuckerberg will pan out.
