Via QR codes, those tickets can be scanned on MetroRapid vehicles without having to wait in line at the front.<\/p>\n<p>Some 700 scanners are being added to the entire CapMetro fleet in the near future, <em>KXAN<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kxan.com\/news\/local\/austin\/capmetro-working-to-modernize-services-upgrade-fare-systems\/\">reported<\/a>. The agency is also introducing new credit-capable vending machines at high-profile stops, starting sometime this spring. It&#8217;s not yet clear whether those machines will accept Apple Pay.<\/p>\n<p>Also unknown is whether busses and trains will get Apple Pay Express Transit. The technology turns an iPhone into a wireless pass, able to authenticate at kiosks and turnstiles without Face ID, Touch ID, or even waking a device. <\/p>\n<p>Express Transit is already in action in places like <a href=\"https:\/\/appleinsider.com\/articles\/19\/05\/29\/new-york-city-rolling-out-apple-pay-at-selected-subway-stations-on-may-31\">New York City<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/appleinsider.com\/articles\/19\/05\/21\/portland-becomes-first-us-city-to-offer-apple-pay-express-transit-integration\">Portland<\/a>. London may get the option <a href=\"https:\/\/appleinsider.com\/articles\/19\/05\/30\/apple-pay-express-transit-arriving-in-london-in-next-few-months\">within the next few months<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Austin is home to Apple&#8217;s second-largest corporate presence in the U.S., mainly geared towards AppleCare and operations.
