Evans<\/a> laid out an anticipated timeline for the search for Vanderbilt\u2019s ninth chancellor at a town hall-style gathering on June 5 designed to share information about the priorities and process that will drive the search for the university\u2019s next leader.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Evans announced that global executive search and leadership consulting firm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spencerstuart.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spencer Stuart<\/a> will support the search. Spencer Stuart has worked with the boards and faculties at top-ranked universities and colleges\u2014including Stanford, Yale, Cornell, Williams and Brown\u2014to identify and successfully recruit those institutions\u2019 current presidents.<\/p>\n<p>A capacity crowd filled Featheringill Hall\u2019s Jacobs Believed in Me Auditorium for the event, and dozens more watched a live stream on the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/chancellor-search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chancellor Search website<\/a>. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=drRNaXt3YDk&feature=youtu.be\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Watch a video archive of the town hall<\/a> ).<\/p>\n<p>Evans outlined the charges of the recently appointed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/chancellor-search\/committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chancellor Search Committee<\/a>, which he chairs, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/chancellor-search\/advisory-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chancellor Search Advisory Committee<\/a>, chaired by <a href=\"https:\/\/as.vanderbilt.edu\/about\/deanbio.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">College of Arts and Science Dean John Geer<\/a>. (Joe Howell\/Vanderbilt)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI think what we\u2019ve managed to do is put together a set of committees that are quite diverse and represent the wider Vanderbilt community in such a way that we\u2019ll be able to understand what qualities and attributes the community truly values in our next chancellor,\u201d Evans said.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/chancellor-search\/advisory-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Advisory Committee<\/a>, which comprises students, faculty, staff and alumni, will gather, synthesize and provide advice to the\u00a0Search Committee\u00a0on the priorities the next chancellor should address, as well as discern the qualities that individual should possess.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/chancellor-search\/committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Search Committee<\/a>, comprising current and emerita Board of Trust members, faculty and staff, will lead efforts to search for and select an outstanding candidate for recommendation to the full board.<\/p>\n<p>The Advisory Committee\u2019s work is already underway and will continue through mid-September, at which time the committee will issue a public report of its findings.
