Spiral model is one of the most important Software Development Life Cycle models.<br \/>\n2. This model was first described by Barry Boehm in 1986.<br \/>\n3. Spiral Model can handle large amount of risk.<br \/>\n4. The spiral model has four phases:<br \/>\n  Planning, Risk Analysis, Development &#038; Testing, Evaluation.<br \/>\n4.  In its diagrammatic representation, it looks like a spiral. <\/p>\n<p>PLANNING: Requirements are gathered from the customers and the objectives are identified,<br \/>\nand analyzed at the start of every phase.  Requirements  like BSR (Business<br \/>\nRequirements Specifications)  and SRS(System Requirements<br \/>\nSpecifications)  are gathered from this quadrant. Then alternative solutions<br \/>\npossible for the phase are proposed in this quadrant. <\/p>\n<p>RISK ANALYSIS: During the second quadrant all the possible solutions are evaluated to select<br \/>\nthe best possible solution. Then the risks associated with that solution is<br \/>\nidentified and the risks are resolved using the best possible strategy. At the end<br \/>\nof this quadrant, Prototype is built for the best possible solution.<\/p>\n<p>DEVELOPMENT  &#038; TESTING:  During the third quadrant, the identified features are Developed and verified<br \/>\nthrough Testing.<\/p>\n<p>EVALUATION: This phase allows the customer to evaluate the output of the project before the<br \/>\nproject continues to the nest spiral. Customer evaluate the software and provide<br \/>\ntheir feedback and approval.<br \/>\nIn the end, planning for the next phase is started.<\/p>\n<p>When to use Spiral Model?<br \/>\n1. When the project is large.<br \/>\n2. Where the amount of risk is large.<br \/>\n3. Where  requirements are complicated.<br \/>\n4. Where Software require significant changes.<br \/>\n5. Where enough time frame is their.<br \/>\n6. Where releases are required to be frequent. <\/p>\n<p>Advantages of Spiral Model:<br \/>\n1. Best model for the risk analysis and risk handling.<br \/>\n2. Good for large projects.<br \/>\n3. Flexibility in Requirements.<br \/>\n4. Customer Satisfaction.<br \/>\n5. Software is produced Early.<\/p>\n<p>Disadvantages of Spiral Model:<br \/>\n1. The Spiral Model is much more complex than other SDLC models.<br \/>\n2. Spiral Model is not suitable for small projects as it is<br \/>\n         expensive.<br \/>\n3. It\u2019s Costly for smaller Projects.<br \/>\n4.
