Kevin Durant isn\u2019t voicing his summer plans, but his body language tells a story Knicks fans can only dream.<\/p>\n
The Golden State Warriors star \u2014 presumably until free agency in July \u2014 sat through a recent CBS \u201c60 Minutes\u201d interview alongside teammates that doubled as a torture session<\/a> he seemingly couldn\u2019t wait to escape.<\/p>\n There was Durant, his eyes glued to the Golden State hardwood, as reporter Jon Wertheim posited how he, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston could ever \u201cplay for another team after going through this,\u201d the \u201cthis\u201d being an NBA reign of three titles in four years that few other franchises have enjoyed.<\/p>\n In response to that inquiry, the 35-year-old, savvy Iguodala attempted what seemed like a final plea to keep Durant in the Bay.<\/p>\n \u201cThey don\u2019t know, because they\u2019re younger, they\u2019ve got time,\u201d Iguodala said. \u201cWhen you get older, you don\u2019t want to play for anybody else\u2026 This has got to be the template.\u201d<\/p>\n At that point, Iguodala, Curry and Livingston broke into laughter. Durant, hands clenched together, stayed focused on the ground below while Thompson kept a straight face in ominous fashion.<\/p>\n Thompson, the Warriors\u2019 second \u201cSplash Brother\u201d for his 3-point exploits, to a lesser extent than Durant has been at the center of rumors connecting him to another team in the summer.<\/p>\n LeBron\u2019s Lakers are expected to be in full pursuit, though it\u2019s been speculated a max contract could keep him a Goliath Warrior. Meanwhile, 63.3 percent of 109 players recently polled by The Athletic believe Durant dazzling the Garden\u2019s home crowd 41 times a year<\/a> is a fait accompli.<\/p>\n Absent from the powwow was Draymond Green, who missed this awkward exchange between Wertheim and Durant:<\/p>\n Wertheim<\/strong>: It\u2019s inevitable there\u2019s gonna be some friction sometimes. How do you guys handle conflict?<\/p>\n Durant<\/strong>: You lookin\u2019 at me?<\/p>\n Voiceover<\/strong>: We were looking at him.<\/p>\n Wertheim<\/strong>: You said \u201cpeace\u201d is a big word for you these days. What did you mean by that?<\/p>\n Curry<\/strong>: Did you say that?<\/p>\n Durant<\/strong>: I don\u2019t remember (laughs). I\u2019m sure I thought about it.<\/p>\n Of course Wertheim was singling out Durant, whose well-documented spats with Green this season have led to restored faith in Knicks land, where two max spots awaits Durant and likely close friend Kyrie Irving.<\/p>\n \u201cIf I already made a decision, it would take away from the team, what we\u2019re fighting for. Every play would be overshadowed by it,\u201d Durant told the ESPN\u2019s The Undefeated<\/a> earlier this week. \u201cIt is not necessary for me to make a decision right now. It would be bad to do that. It would take the focus off of what is important. I would never want to put my teammates in a messed-up position. I want to forget about it.\u201d<\/p>\n Until then, Durant and the Warriors \u2014 tied 1-1 with the Clippers in their first-round series after blowing a 31-point lead Monday<\/a> \u2014 will aim for more rings.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
