An autopsy report has revealed tragic Bethany Stephens<\/strong> died after taking her two pit bulls out for a walk.<\/p>\n Goochland Sheriff\u2019s Office released the medical examiner\u2019s findings as authorities closed the investigation into the horrific death of the 22-year-old.<\/p>\n They ruled she \u201cwas not raped, and this was not a homicide.\u201d<\/p>\n The incident just before Christmas, on December 13, shocked America as speculation engulfed the dog lover\u2019s death<\/a>.<\/p>\n PHOTOS: Body Of Prince Secretly Cremated Immediately After Autopsy<\/a><\/p>\n Police took the unprecedented step of releasing graphic details about the dog attack to try to prove there was no foul play involved<\/a>.<\/p>\n The autopsy confirms what police have always maintained, that she died from \u201ctrauma due to mauling by animals.\u201d<\/p>\n The report read: \u201cShe had defensive wounds on her hands and arms from trying to keep the dogs away from her.<\/p>\n \u201cIt appeared the first traumatic injury was to the face and throat.<\/p>\n PHOTOS: Kim Richards\u2019 Pitbull Mauled An 80-Year-Old Family Friend \u2013 See The Photos! <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cMost likely Stephens was taken to the ground, lost consciousness and then mauled to death.<\/p>\n \u201cThere were no strangulation marks, but there were puncture wounds to the skull in keeping with animal bites,\u201d the report continued.<\/p>\n The report also ruled out any drugs or alcohol in Stephens\u2019 system<\/a>.<\/p>\n Sheriff Jim Agnew<\/strong> said he hoped the findings would give her family some closure surrounding her death.<\/p>\n PHOTOS: Kim Richards\u2019 16 Wildest Secrets & Scandals<\/a><\/p>\n Stephens had recently moved out of her parents home but returned daily to walk the dogs \u2013 with experts reporting the stress of her moving out could have triggered the dogs\u2019 attack.<\/p>\n After the mauling both dogs were standing guard over her body and would not let anyone near<\/a>.<\/p>\n It would be hours before police could get to Stephens and during that time one of the animals was eating part of the body, the report released by police states.<\/p>\n
