Moderate Democrats<\/a> are fuming over New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s<\/a> closed-door warning last week<\/a> that Democrats who vote with Republicans are “putting themselves\u00a0on a list” \u2013 a comment interpreted as a primary challenge threat.<\/p>\n Ocasio-Cortez has since downplayed<\/a> her comments, made in the wake of 26 Democrats joining Republicans to vote for a provision requiring Immigration and Customs Enforcement to be notified if illegal immigrants attempt to purchase guns.<\/p>\n OCASIO-CORTEZ WARNS OF ‘LIST’ FOR MODERATE DEMS WHO VOTE WITH REPUBLICANS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Still, some House Democrats aren\u2019t happy with her talk of a \u201clist.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI don’t think it’s productive,\u201d Michigan Rep. Dan Kildee said Saturday on Fox News\u2019 \u201cCavuto Live.\u201d<\/p>\n He added, \u201cI don’t think we should be interfering with one another’s politics. The people who elected us get to make those choices.\u201d<\/p>\n New Jersey Democratic Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a co-chairman of the Problem Solvers Caucus, said Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s use of the word \u201clist\u201d was \u201cNixonian.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBeing unified means ensuring that Democrats aren\u2019t primary-ing other sitting Democrats,\u201d Gottheimer told <\/a>The Washington Post. \u201cSince when is it okay to put you on a Nixonian list? We need to have a big tent in our party or we won\u2019t keep the House or win the White House.\u201d<\/p>\n The brouhaha began last week when two-dozen moderate Democrats broke from their party’s progressive wing and sided with Republicans on a legislative amendment having to do with illegal immigrants and guns.<\/p>\n
