President Trump on Monday blasted Rep. Ilhan Omar\u2019s latest controversial statement about Israel, calling it a \u201cdark day\u201d for the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cRepresentative Ilhan Omar is again under fire for her terrible comments concerning Israel,\u201d Trump wrote in a tweet<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cJewish groups have just sent a petition to Speaker Pelosi asking her to remove Omar from Foreign Relations Committee.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cA dark day for Israel!\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Trump was responding to Omar\u2019s tweet on Sunday, in which she wrote: \u201cI should not be expected to have allegiance\/pledge support to a foreign country in order to serve my country in Congress or serve on committee.\u201d<\/p>\n A number of Jewish groups, including the National Council for Young Israel, wrote to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Monday, asking for Omar to be removed from the committee<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cIn light of Rep. Ilhan Omar\u2019s recent anti-Semitic tweets, statements, and address before Islamic Relief USA on Saturday, February 23rd, we, the undersigned organizations, request that you immediately remove her as a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee,\u201d the groups wrote.<\/p>\n Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, also wrote to Pelosi on Monday and asked that the House draw up a resolution condemning her statements.<\/p>\n Greenblatt wrote that accusing Jews of having dual loyalties has \u201clong been a vile anti-Semitic slur.\u201d<\/p>\n In response, Democrats drafted a resolution denouncing anti-Semitism.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
