A wave of harsh winter weather was rolling across the nation Sunday, driving heavy snow from California’s Sierra Nevada to New England and triggering bone-chilling temperatures that could loiter deep into the week.<\/p>\n

The latest in a series of recent, massive storms conspired\u00a0with a fresh push of Arctic air to bring little relief as the calendar flipped to March, AccuWeather said.<\/p>\n

“This is quite a powerful storm as it pushes west to east,”\u00a0AccuWeather senior meteorologist Alan Reppert said. “Behind that we are going to see much colder temperatures coming in that are likely to hang around for a while.”<\/p>\n

By Monday night, parts of Pennsylvania and New England could see a foot of snow, Reppert said.\u00a0The Southeast won’t be spared. Heavy rainfall, severe storms with the\u00a0threat of wind damage, an isolated tornado\u00a0and flash flooding are possible.<\/p>\n
