He composes the scores for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbill.com\/person\/bertolt-brecht-vault-0000005707\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">Bertolt Brecht<\/a>&#8216;s <i>Threepenny Opera<\/i> and <i data-rte2-sanitize=\"italic\">Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny<\/i>. His greatest Broadway success is the 1941 musical <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbill.com\/production\/lady-in-the-dark-alvin-theatre-vault-0000000944\" data-cms-ai=\"0\"><i>Lady in the Dark<\/i><\/a>, written with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbill.com\/person\/moss-hart-vault-0000013655\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">Moss Hart<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbill.com\/person\/ira-gershwin-vault-0000001357\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">Ira Gershwin<\/a>, which runs 467 performances.<\/p>\n<p><b>1921<\/b> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbill.com\/venue\/klaw-theatre-vault-0000000223\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">The Klaw Theatre<\/a> on West 45th Street opens with a production of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbillvault.com\/Person\/Detail\/19610\" target=\"_new\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">Rachel Crothers<\/a>&#8216; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbillvault.com\/Show\/Detail\/6324\" target=\"_new\" data-cms-ai=\"0\"><i>Nice People<\/i><\/a>. The theatre is demolished in 1954.<\/p>\n<p> <b>1955<\/b> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbillvault.com\/Person\/Detail\/18937\" target=\"_new\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">Harold Clurman<\/a> directs <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbillvault.com\/Show\/Detail\/2641\" target=\"_new\" data-cms-ai=\"0\"><i>Bus Stop<\/i><\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbillvault.com\/Person\/Detail\/48344\" target=\"_new\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">Kim Stanley<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbillvault.com\/Person\/Detail\/25392\" target=\"_new\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">Elaine Stritch<\/a> are two of the stranded passengers in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbillvault.com\/Person\/Detail\/27947\" target=\"_new\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">William Inge<\/a> play.<\/p>\n<p> <b>1960<\/b> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbillvault.com\/Person\/Detail\/74896\" target=\"_new\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">Don Ameche<\/a> stars in the memorable flop <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbillvault.com\/Show\/Detail\/3732\" target=\"_new\" data-cms-ai=\"0\"><i>13 Daughters<\/i><\/a>, with book, music, and lyrics by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbillvault.com\/Person\/Detail\/6113\" target=\"_new\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">Eaton Magoon, Jr.<\/a> The show runs 28 performances at the 54th Street Theatre.<\/p>\n<p> <b>1975<\/b> Did anyone guess the careers <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbillvault.com\/Person\/Detail\/25693\" target=\"_new\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">Gilda Radner<\/a>, John Belushi, and Bill Murray would have? All three appear in <i>The National Lampoon Show<\/i> at the Palladium in New York. Bosco and director <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbill.com\/person\/jerry-zaks-vault-0000020517\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">Jerry Zaks<\/a> win Tony Awards for their work.<\/p>\n<p>  <b>1995<\/b> Opening night for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbill.com\/production\/smokey-joes-cafe-virginia-theatre-vault-0000005236\" data-cms-ai=\"0\"><i>Smokey Joe&#8217;s Cafe<\/i><\/a>, the musical revue saluting the songs of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbillvault.com\/Person\/Detail\/6646\" target=\"_new\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">Jerry Leiber<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbillvault.com\/Person\/Detail\/7009\" target=\"_new\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">Mike Stoller<\/a>. Directed by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbillvault.com\/Person\/Detail\/20517\" target=\"_new\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">Jerry Zaks<\/a>, the show runs 2,036 performances at the Virginia Theatre, making it the longest-running revue in Broadway history, save <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbillvault.com\/Show\/Detail\/13076\" target=\"_new\" data-cms-ai=\"0\"><i>Oh! Calcutta!<\/i><\/a><\/p>\n<p> <b>2000<\/b> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbillvault.com\/Person\/Detail\/209\" target=\"_new\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">Susan Stroman<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbillvault.com\/Person\/Detail\/26432\" target=\"_new\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">John Weidman<\/a>&#8216;s dance play <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbill.com\/production\/contact-vivian-beaumont-theatre-vault-0000011229\" data-cms-ai=\"0\"><i>Contact<\/i><\/a> starts performances at the Vivian Beaumont Theater.
