Yuehua terminates Huang Zhibo’s contract after fraud allegations

17 Feb – Yuehua Entertainment has recently released a statement following news that its trainee Huang Zhibo has been arrested under the suspicion of fraud.

As reported on China News, the company issued its statement online, saying that it has terminated Huang’s contract and that he is currently cooperating with the authorities.

They also apologised for the incident and slammed those who exploited the COVID-19 epidemic to commit crimes.

The issue was sparked earlier this week when the Shanghai Public Security Department revealed that it has cracked a series of online scamming cases involving the sale of face masks which has accumulated a total amount of RMB 280,000.

The police stated that in the morning of 1 February, a Ms Lu from Pudong reported that she was scammed by a certain Mr Huang selling face masks, after ordering 400,000 masks at a unit price of 0.9 Yuan per piece.

The woman stated that the man asked her to pick up the goods in Yangzhou after she made the advance payment. However, upon arriving at the said area she was unable to find the pick-up location and immediately called the police to report the scam.

Netizens later discovered that the man in question was 22-year-old Huang Zhibo, who previously participated in the first season of Youku’s idol competition, “All For One”.
