DeMarcus Lawrence, Grady Jarrett receive franchise tags

The Giants are still deciding what to do with safety Landon Collins this offseason, but that hasn’t stopped other teams from handing out their franchise tags.

With the March 5 deadline approaching, numerous teams placed franchise tags on players, which gives the sides until March 15 to figure out a multi-year deal or have the player spend the season on a one-year contract at a salary that is the average of the top-five salaries at the position from the previous year or 120% of the player’s last salary — whichever is higher.

Famously, free-agent-to-be Le’Veon Bell sat out the 2018 season after receiving a second straight franchise tag from the Steelers, who opted not to do it a third straight time and let the star running back walk sans compensation.

• Texans – DE/OLB Jadeveon Clowney
• 49ers – K Robbie Gould
• Seahawks – DE Frank Clark
• Falcons – DT Grady Jarrett
• Chiefs – OLB Dee Ford

The Buccaneers are expected to tag offensive tackle Donovan Smith.
