They’ve been using live FR in the US for years, as the commenter below me stated. I know Best Buy (electronics retailer) had it since at least 2009 because back when I was doing bad shit all the time, BB put me on a “watch list” and the next time I went in I was asked to leave after only a few seconds in the ?.
Regarding surveillance, I think that if it is properly set up, and strict laws and civilian institutions are used to make sure they don't abuse the system it might be a good thing. But UKkekstan is by far trustworthy.

From what I understand, we already have and use facial recognition in the US, however it isn't used for general purposes like in the UK, it's used for airport screenings, people being investigated by the Feds, things like that that are for more specific and extreme circumstances. At least that's what "they" say…
