I’m a jerk, but if I’m going to setup properly for a turn in the slow lane at least turn your signal on and don’t try pinching me off (not a zipper merge). Portland fix this intersection area

I just hate when people don’t signal. They’re the ones who’s gonna run out of lane not me. Like OP said it’s like a zipper and it’ll be faster if everyone does that.
I’m the same… I don’t mind letting everyone in, even if I have to stop completely to allow multiple cars to join, but ONLY if they indicate and wait for their turn. when they think they’re entitled to it, I prove them wrong.
I’m the same of someone indicates they want to pull across I’ll be the first to make room and let them in. Someone tries muscling their way in they can feck off especially when there’s been ample chance previously to merge safely and considerately.
I do the same thing every day on my way home from work.
I hate others not using signals too, and I’ve done the same as you too once upon a time.
I’ve ultimately decided the stress it generates just isn’t worth it, I have no idea how crazy the other person may be, and people will do whatever they want regardless of what I want.
I used to drive on that every day, and yes its the worst congested entrance ever. You could almost use this area to diagnose severe selfish behavior in drivers.
The people in the right lane drive there with the intent of forcing their way in. The far left lane feeds directly into a highway entrance. The sad part is that the reason the left lane is slow is because of these people, and during rush hour it backs up for blocks. The people who drive responsibly (and get in the left lane early) get taken advantage of my the selfish people who drive all the way up in the right (middle) lane.
I’m a jerk in these situations also. No signal, no merge. Simple as that.
“Didn’t have their signal on. I thought they were going straight”
This intersection SUCKS. I used to sit at the bottom of that damn hill for 20 minutes because people would block the entire intersection to turn right into this lane.
I was about to say this looks like getting on to 405 and sure enough it is! I do the same thing. Everybody knows it’s coming up, everyone wants to skip the line.
I have a question about driving in Portland. Why does everyone drive so incredibly slow. Especially in the passing lane?
He won.
