The Budget-Friendly Hotel That Doubles as an Airbnb
Apart from when I’m travelling with family, I always choose budget-friendly hotels. Airbnb is an option, but for a destination like Thailand, I’ve always preferred hotels with full-fledged service. Enter Sanae Hotel in Chiang Mai. It’s kind on the wallet, it’s smack right in the middle of the city centre and best of all, it’s so big that it pretty much doubles as an Airbnb.

Personally, I’ve never stayed in a hotel room that offers full amenities including a whole pantry area without having to pay a premium price for a suite. The cheapest room option for Sanae Hotel, though, already offers this luxury. Why rent an Airbnb if you have everything here, plus room service to boot?

Sanae Hotel is located in Chiang Mai’s prime district on the trendy Nimmanhaemin Road, tucked modestly into one of the side streets. From the outside, the hotel doesn’t look all that exciting. It’s rather plain with only a small outdoor area behind the lobby containing several deck chairs and a swimming pool. But head inside one of the rooms, and you’re up for a world of wonders.
Room

There is a choice of three rooms to stay in: the King Suite, the Twin Suite and the Executive Suite. The first two are the cheaper options, but that doesn’t mean they lose out at all. Both of these rooms offer an expansive 50sq.m. space facing either the city or the garden. Featured in this Sanae Hotel review is the King Suite, which provides more than enough space for two.

The overall design of Sanae Hotel’s King Suite is minimalist, with a natural colour scheme consisting of neutral tones that are easy on the eyes. White, grey and subdued wood shades dominate the entire suite from bedroom, to living room, to dining room. The space is so big that it can easily be sectioned into different areas for different uses, so if you normally rent Airbnbs for the pantry area traditionally not offered in a hotel, then Sanae Hotel is your perfect Chiang Mai solution.

Some rare highlights of the King Suite’s amenities include two air conditioners, two flat-screen TVs and my personal favourite, a full-length fridge for storing days worth of snacks. Rainy day indoors? No problem, plenty of space to run around inside and plenty of room to knock up a full-course meal. Plus, there’s no need to worry if you make a mess. Cleaning service is just a phone call away.

I didn’t encounter any setbacks during my stay at Sanae Hotel. The lobby service was friendly, the staff was helpful and everything went to plan. If you’re looking for convenience, design and a good room size in terms of accommodation in Chiang Mai, Thailand, then I highly recommend checking out Sanae Hotel.
