  2. If I was thinking of jumping off a bridge, and suddenly a bear started talking to me and comforting me. I’d think, “Fuck. On top of everything else I’ve gone insane.” It’d give me all the more incentive to take the plunge.

  3. Raise awareness for suicide? Is there a single adult in the world who doesn’t know that suicide is an option? Here I was thinking that contemplating death is a right of passage into adulthood.

It’s actually proven that raising awareness for suicide actually causes an increase in suicide rates, because those affected by depression, anxiety (etc) are then made aware that suicide is an option. That being said, the statue looks much more like raising awareness for depression than suicide. Maybe the people who built it know the issue.
