I like how the car stops spinning and perfectly shows your light finally turning red and theirs turning green.
Just proves that either 1) people will lie to get out of anything and/or 2) eyewitness accounts, especially of fast-moving events, are unreliable. The video never lies

It’s sad that we need dashcams for purposes like this. I hope you let the driver and witness lie to the police before sharing the video.

Hope the police went back to the other driver who had lied to them during an official statement and “set him straight”.
This also happened to me. I didn’t have a dashcam at the time, so was an expensive lesson.
My sister was in a similar situation when she was in high school. It was early in the morning and she was on her way to swim practice. The guy and the passenger who ran the light blamed her for running a red light. She was deemed at fault even though the guy who hit her didn’t have a license or insurance.

What shitheads they are for blatantly lying to the police like that. I can’t believe people can do stuff like that and live with themselves; if you make an error you ought to own up to it, especially if it’s one that has harmed someone else and will continue to harm them if you lie.
I’m glad you’re alright, and hope they’re disciplined or charged in some way. Always unnerving to think about how many drivers there are out there that have potentially done shit like this but are still on the road.
I installed one for just the same reason and it already paid in dividend.. got hit less than a month after I bought a brand new car… Would have had to accept 20% liability if I didn’t have it

Glad you are OK. Same thing happened to me back in 1986. No dashcam to prove my case, though. Witness saw lights AFTER impact, so I was charged at-fault and my license was suspended for a year.
