My guts would be tickling my uvula every single time.
I never realized fighters have rearview mirrors. Makes sense though; it helps you know which of your kids needs the chancla.
Fun fact- they go full throttle once they land, so if the hook breaks they can go back up

(this might have changed)
Looks easy, huh? Now try it at night, in a storm, with high seas tossing the ship around. That’ll get yer sphincter puckerin’.
Navy flyers think Air Force pilots have it damn easy: their runways are a mile long, and always where they left ‘em.
*on an apparently moving aircraft carrier
Yea but can he paralel park in tesco?
Big brass balls
What’s the g-force on landing and getting stopped by the cable?
For some reason the most shocking thing about this is the fact that it never occurred to me that they need rear view mirrors too.
Reminds me of the angry video game nerd tries to land in the nes game Top gun
That made me think of the NES game Top Gun.
And here we have people who can’t even park within the white lines
I feel like an idiot for being surprised that a fighter jet has a rear view mirror…
The longer version is better.
Easy peasy
Call the ball
This give so much more context to why I have heard pilots say that Landing on a carrier at night is one of the scariest things they ever do/did as a pilot.
And if that weren’t enough, the magnificent bastards can do it at night.
Away from all the annoyances of land, like stationary runways.
Whoever came up with the idea of an aircraft carrier was psycho.
Yeah let’s just, uhh, make and airstrip, but…. Ya know, put it on a boat.
Planes will just land on it….
Yeah I know it’s like 1/50th the size of a normal air strip.
It will be fine.
How did he come to a stop with that much room to spare?? I thought for sure he was gonna get closer to the edge.
I love how multi million dollar fighter aircraft have simple rearview mirrors. Makes me think for a second I could fly one.
I will say this, that was the last arrestor wire…..
That’s just impressive ????
I hated that mission on NES’s ‘Top Gun’ one of the banes of my childhood.
Just realized there’s a rear view mirror!
That’s super cool.
Can someone explain how they are able to land in such a small strip? Do they have really good brakes or what? Simply curious.
I was so tense watching this, I didn’t even realize I was holding a kegel until after the landing
most people cant even park straight, yet these guys/gals land a multi ton chunk of alloy on a moving target going god knows how fast.. impressed every time
I would doubt if my landing gear would tip off the edge ??
Reminds me of top gun Nintendo game…always crashed
What rope did they hit.
I’d love to see a video of a carrier landing video by an V-22 Osprey, since they do this SIDEWAYS (albeit at a much slower speed).
Confirm you have the ball.
Roger ball!
My inner 9 year old playing Top Gun on the NES aww that’s how you do it.
