I said this before, but I’ll say it again; Folau, in the capacity of his employment and as per his contract, was effectively a representative of the Australian Rugby Union brand, and his comments, as they were quite controversial, may have caused backlash for the brand and may have persuaded people to boycott ARU, thus damaging the reputation and bottom line for the brand. The Australian Rugby Union (which is a private entity, and not a government entity or public utility) chose to protect its image and its revenue by terminating Folau from employment based on the terms of his contract. Folau chose to be a representative of the Rugby Union brand, and therefore had the responsibility to toe the line in regards to the brand’s values. If he didn’t agree with the terms he shouldn’t have signed the contract accepted the millions of dollars in salary he was paid for representing the brand. I have absolutely no sympathy for Folau, and in my opinion it was in incredibly poor taste for one of the highest paid Rugby Union players in Australia to petition for donations from the public. He is a multi-millionaire with a professional athlete wife, he can pay for his own legal costs out of his own goddam pocket. The ARU doesn’t owe him a cent, and they should countersue him for lost revenue and for the damage he has done to the brand with his stunt.

I can honestly say I don't like religious or any ideology like islam for its base on HATE, even of itself. There is no love or compassion within islam. The christian belief even has compassion and love towards others not hate but I still think religion is based on fear for the control of others, because everything you do wrong is a sin. Free speech and freedom of religion is good. Australian constitution was built on Christian teachings anyways. Let Folau practice his beliefs as a devout Christian and others should also be allowed to practice their religious beliefs or being atheists. To each its own! Freedom for all!

The right to free speech doesn’t give you the right to spread hate towards a group of people who are already marginalised in society. This flys in the face of the very concept of free speech and an egalitarian society. You can’t discriminate against a group of people who hold a dominant place in society. Folau was sacked because he breached the rugby code of conduct. That's just the way the world works. Everyone who works for an organisation is bound by their code of conduct. If you don't like it get another job.
And the reason other footballers have got away with much worse is because they didn't get a major sponsor offside. Its all about the dollars and common sense.
