Jakarta – Officials evacuated 2 residents in North Aceh who died after being swept away by the flood. The evacuation process was dramatic as the team had to navigate a fast flowing river. According to detikSumut, the two victims were found at different times in Nibong Village, Syamtalira Bayu District. The two are Roslina (42), a teacher from Baro Kulam Gajah Village, Syamtalira Bayu District, and the male victim M. Jamil (57), a civil servant from Cot Girek Kandang Village, Muara Dua District, Lhokseumawe City. “The evacuation process was dramatic due to the strong flow of water and terrain that was difficult to access,” Syamtalira Bayu Police Chief Inspector Gunanto said in his statement on Thursday (27/11/2025). Scroll TO CONTINUE CONTENT According to him, the evacuation of the two bodies began with information received by the joint team that they suspected that the victim had been swept away by the flood. After checking, the news turned out to be true, so officers prepared evacuation equipment. Officers and residents explored the flooded area on foot while tying safety ropes in anticipation of being swept away by the current. The first attempt was successful, Roslina’s body was found around 10.30 WIB. Search efforts continued and Jamil’s body was found around 12.15 WIB. The two bodies were then evacuated to the Syamtalira Bayu Community Health Center for data collection and identification. After the data collection process, the two bodies were taken to the Cut Meutia Hospital for further examination. Currently, the two victims have been handed over to the family for the fardhu kifayah process. “The evacuation process faced a number of obstacles, including heavy rainfall, strong water currents, power outages and internet network outages.
