New Delhi, December 22 (IANS). In today’s busy life, healthy diet and yoga play an important role in maintaining balanced health, but we often don’t pay attention to it until some health problem surrounds us. In such a situation, Siddhasana is such a yoga asana, which calms the mind and increases concentration. Siddhasana is one of the most important and ancient meditation asanas in yoga science. ‘Siddha’ means ‘complete’ or ‘knowledgeable’. It is a yoga posture in which the focus is placed on the perineum with the heel of one foot on the perineum and the heel of the other foot on the genitals, while keeping the spine straight. According to the Ministry of AYUSH, this Yogasana is an important yogic practice of the Siddha system of medicine, which is associated with ‘Chitti’ (wholeness) and calms the mind thereby directing the body’s energy (Prana) upwards. The daily practice provides relief in indigestion and many physical and mental diseases such as asthma and diabetes. Along with this, this asana stretches the hips, knees and ankles. To do this regularly, sit in Dandasana pose on the yoga mat. Now bend the left leg at the knee and place the heel firmly on the center of the perineum. After this, bend the right foot and place its heel just above the heel of the left foot. Catch the toes of the right foot in the joint between the thigh and calf of the left leg. Now keep the spine, neck and head absolutely straight and concentrate by closing your eyes. Its regular practice offers many benefits. If someone has pain in their knees or hips, do so with caution or take the support of a chair. People with high blood pressure should be careful while taking deep breaths or doing pranayama. –IANS NS/VC Share this story Tags
