Over 90 percent work of Pachpadra refinery completed, crude oil supply started from Arab countries, preparations for inauguration in January

The construction of the 9 million tonne refinery being built in Pachpadra, Rajasthan has started at a fast pace. HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (HRRL) has intensified preparations for the early start of the project. The supply of crude oil from Arab countries has started for the refinery. Currently, more than 26,000 workers are engaged in the construction of the refinery. To date, 90.3% of the project has been completed. A total of 7.5 million tonnes of crude oil will be imported from Arab countries for the refinery project, while 1.5 million tonnes will be produced in Rajasthan. The refinery has no liquid effluent discharge, meaning there will be no waste during the process. 9 major processing units have been requested to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the formal inauguration is expected to take place in January 2026. Commercial production is expected to begin by July 2026. An investment of around ₹80,000 crore is proposed for this project. So far, tenders worth ₹76,000 crore have been issued, and work worth over ₹62,000 crore has been completed. This project includes 9 large process units, 4 petrochemical units and 2 utility units. How will crude oil reach Pachpadra? Crude oil from Arab countries will reach Mundra port in Gujarat via sea. Six crude oil terminal tanks are being constructed at Mundra Port, of which more than 92% work has been completed. From there, it will be transported to Pachpadra refinery through a 485 km long dedicated pipeline. As the pipeline is electrically heated, the crude oil will remain at the required temperature, ensuring uninterrupted supply. The supply of crude oil started through this pipeline. Finished products will reach North India. Pachpadra Refinery will make petrol, diesel, LPG, jet fuel and petrochemical products such as polyethylene, polypropylene, butadiene, toluene and benzene. These products will be supplied to Rajasthan as well as many neighboring states of North India. Operating status in units The refinery operates in three sectors: nine units in the refinery sector, four units in the petrochemical sector and two units in the utility sector. Five companies do the whole job. Of these, the polypropylene and butane-1 units are the slowest at 68% completion, while the Diesel hydrotreating unit and hydrogen generation unit are the most complete at 98% completion. The testing process started with the commissioning of the flare system, Refinery Chief Executive Officer Kamlakar R. Vikhar and Chief Financial Officer Indrajit Dasgupta said that the first shipment of crude oil has arrived at the crude tank at Mundra Port, and it is being transported to the refinery by pipeline from six tanks at Mundra Port. OBE work at the refinery is 99.8% complete. HPCL CMD Vikas Kaushal said once gas supply started from Mehsana-Bhatinda gas pipeline, the flare system was activated and testing started. The supply of water to the refinery through pipeline from Nachana reservoir has also started. Annual Refinery Production Gasoline – 995 Diesel – 4035 PP – 1073 LLDPE – 479 HDPE – 479 Butadiene – 146 Benzene – 134 Toluene – 104 Sulfur – 157
