A case has been registered against two owners of food manufacturing units in Thane, Maharashtra, for holding workers hostage, making them work extra hours every day and not paying them adequate food and salaries. Remove Ads Read Only News Ambernath police on Friday lodged an FIR under sections 143 (3) (human trafficking), 127 (4) (wrongful childbirth), 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Code of Justice (IPC) and other relevant provisions as well as provisions of the Official Labor System, (A 9) said. A laborer from UP filed a complaint. A police official said that a 40-year-old laborer from Uttar Pradesh had filed a complaint in this regard. The complainant said that the accused Nikki alias Krishna Kumar Agrahari and Nitin Tiwari were running food units in Ladi Naka and Bhendipada areas of the city. The accused threatened the complainant and 10 other laborers to work for 15 to 16 hours daily. They were not given enough food and were forced to work even when they were sick. The officer said that the complainant claimed that he was threatened when he asked for his money. The police said that a detailed investigation of the case is underway.
