In Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh, a daughter-in-law was strangled to death for not bringing a car and Rs 10 lakh as dowry and was hanged to make it look like suicide. The Dhampur police arrested the prime accused and sent him to jail. Four other named accused are absconding. The victim’s uncle lodged a complaint with the police, after which the police investigated. Police have arrested two people in the case and are looking for others. In Bijnor district, a married woman was brutally murdered after her dowry demand was not met. The family of the deceased claims that her in-laws first tortured the girl Mehvish and later hanged her. In this serious case, the Dhampur police station registered a complaint and took action and arrested the main accused. According to the dowry murder police, the uncle of the deceased went to the Dhampur police station on December 18 and lodged a written complaint with Inspector Mridul Kumar. The complaint said that since her marriage, her cousin was being harassed for dowry. It is alleged that her in-laws kept demanding a car and Rs 10 lakh. When the demands were not met, the woman was abused and beaten. His daughter was killed due to demand for dowry. A total of six people from the in-laws and maternal family were named in the case. Based on the complaint, the Dhampur police station registered a case under relevant sections and started investigation. Police arrested two people: During the investigation, the police stepped up their action and arrested the accused husband-wife Kalim and Farzana, residents of Sedha village Dhampur police station. After the arrest, the police also recovered the scarf used in Mehwish’s murder, which is considered important evidence for the identification of the accused. SSP Abhishek Jha said no accused would be spared in a heinous crime like dowry killing.
